Playgroups

The heart of Las Madres is our weekly playgroups. Playgroups are organized by the year of your child's birth. A playgroup is a group of parents and/or caregivers and their children who meet weekly at a member's home, park, or other location for socializing and playtime. Unless otherwise indicated, siblings are welcome to the playgroups, especially at public places like the parks. Occasionally, depending on the group, out of town playgroups may be scheduled at local beaches, the zoo or other parks.

Playgroups usually last for two hours in duration and can be scheduled in the morning or afternoon depending on the consensus of the group, usually based on children's nap times. Depending on what members of each group decide, there might be anywhere from one to four playgroups per week.

Playgroup coordinators schedule playgroups and members volunteer to host or co-host the playgroups in their homes, especially during inclement weather conditions or in parks if the weather is favorable.

Please note that the playgroups are subject to change in time and locations because of unforeseen circumstances like the weather or children's illnesses. Every effort will be made to inform all the members about any changes that take place either by e-mail or by phone call (calling tree or calling post). New members or potential new members who are previewing the group are advised to call either the host or playgroup coordinator to confirm the time and location.
